Quaker Steak & Lube® Revamps Kids and Tweener Dining Programs System-Wide2012-01-27 19:51:58
The casual dining concept rolls out enhanced initiatives for families.
SHARON, PA. – January 27, 2012 – Quaker Steak & Lube®, known for its Best Wings USA and over 20 sauce varieties, has been family focused since opening their first restaurant in 1974. This year, their Gizzard Coop Kids Program received a revamp, featuring an added initiative for the Tweener age group. Changes have occurred to the menu placement, activities and the rewards program. Additionally, The Lube® has been recognized for their healthy dining choices.
The Lube®’s program for Kids and Tweeners is called “Coop’s Pit Crew” named after the brand-ambassador/mascot for Quaker Steak & Lube®, Gizzard Coop. His face appears proudly on the new promotional materials associated with the refresh of this program. Currently, the program has 8,726 Kid members (ages 8 and under) and the Tweener portion of the program (ages 9-12), which rolled out in December of 2011, already has 4,289 members. Membership comes with rewards such as a welcome kit containing a Quaker Steak & Lube® themed gift, a letter from Gizzard Coop, a voucher for a free Kid or Tweener meal, and your child’s first Frequent Member Card to the program. These Frequent Member Cards earn your child a free meal after the purchase of six Kid or Tweener meals from previous visits. Once a card is completed, a server will provide your child with a new card. At the age of 13, the Tweener graduates with a special offer for All You Can Eat Wing Nite at any participating Quaker Steak & Lube®.
The Kid’s Lube Cruiser Meals are now featured on a separate activity placemat. Accompanying illustrations on the new placemats will help children make decisions about what they want to eat with the use of visual cues. Activities will keep their minds and hands occupied, until the meal itself arrives in fun car-shaped packaging called the Lube Cruiser. Tweeners, those identified as being between the ages of 9 and 12, now receive more “adult” treatment and find their menu items within the spiral bound menu like their parents.
The Lube® has been recognized by Healthydiningfinder.com’s kid-centered division Kids LiveWell, in partnership with the National Restaurant Association, as providing healthier alternatives to average casual dining fare. Kids LiveWell strives to deliver information to parents about where they can find the best choices for their child’s cuisine. At The Lube® these menu items can be found on the new kid’s placemats and within the menu in the Tweener Tuner Meal section. For a complete listing of the Kids LiveWell food choices click here.
