User-Generated Video Contest Earns More than 32,000 YouTube Views and Several Thousand Votes on TripleAtomicTough.com
SHARON, Pa. –February 18, 2010– Quaker Steak & Lube, the award-winning automotive-themed restaurant chain known for its 21 chicken wing sauce varieties, announced today the winners of its Triple Atomic Tough Video Challenge. Thousands of people cast their votes at TripleAtomicTough.com, and the top three videos were announced today on the Official Quaker Steak & Lube Facebook Fan Page.
Ron Sullivan of Canfield, Ohio won the grand prize of free wings for three years and a $500 Quaker Steak & Lube gift card for his video that featured one man’s speedy consumption of – unbeknownst to him – the Triple Atomic Wing, which caused him to rush into a shower fully dressed to wash away the heat of the sauce. The second place prize of a $250 gift card to The Lube was awarded to Clint Narramore of Columbus, Ohio for his Triple Atomic Tough video and third place of a $100 gift card was awarded to Samantha McKevie of Fort Washington, Md. for her “Atomic Baby” entry.
“The Triple Atomic Tough Video Challenge generated more than 32,000 video views on YouTube and several thousand votes on TripleAtomicTough.com,” said Bob Mentrek, senior vice president of promotions and marketing at Quaker Steak & Lube. “The energetic response to the Challenge has been fantastic and has united wing fans across the nation. We are thankful that so many of our loyal customers participated in the contest and look forward to hosting additional viral events in the future.”
The Quaker Steak & Lube Triple Atomic Tough Video Challenge began mid-December and asked consumers to create and upload a 30-second video that demonstrated why they were tough enough to handle The Lube’s newest and hottest sauce yet – the Triple Atomic. The Top 10 Finalists were selected by an esteemed panel of Quaker Steak & Lube judges and the winning videos were voted on by the public and announced on Facebook from January 30 through February 13.
