Quaker Steak & Lube® Announces Winner In Mayor Of Lube Nation Campaign

SHARON, PA – Quaker Steak & Lube® known for their Best Wings USA and over 20 Award-Winning sauce varieties recently concluded a nationwide search for the Mayor of Lube Nation. Gatesman+Dave of Pittsburgh created the application that housed the contest on the restaurant chain’s Official Facebook page. Lube Nation was given the chance to choose a Mayor that would represent them across the country. Fans could vote for their favorite candidates daily, as well as post questions to the candidates on Facebook and during a live twitter debate hosted by Quaker Steak & Lube® CEO, John Longstreet.

The Lube® used a variety of methods to promote the event, such as email blasts, four-walls marketing, Twitter hash tags, YouTube videos and the Facebook wall and cover photo. Over the course of the promotion, Quaker Steak & Lube® saw over 1,700 fans ‘like’ their Official Facebook page, collected 252 total candidate entries, over 5,000 votes and over 1,000 YouTube views.

Following the 15-week-long social media campaign in which Quaker Steak & Lube® searched for its biggest brand advocates, The Lube® inaugurated the first-ever "Mayor of Lube Nation", Kenneth Rumbaugh of Austintown, OH. Ken was sworn in as Mayor by CEO John Longstreet on Thursday November 8th, 2012. During the inauguration, Ken was joined by Quaker Steak & Lube® co-founder Gary Meszaros, and various members of The Lube® ‘s operations and marketing teams. Throughout his reign as Mayor, Ken will play an active role in The Lube® ‘s social media strategy, and will be a strong advocate for the brand. Along with the title of "Mayor of Lube Nation", Ken received over $500 in Lube sauces, gear and official memorabilia. Ken was also flown to Plano, TX to eat Quaker Steak & Lube® ’s Billionth Wing as part of a ground breaking ceremony at the future Plano location.

Following the success of the Mayor promotion, The Lube® is busy working on their next social media event. "Due to launch in February, our next promotion is for those loyal Lubies out there who don’t have a Quaker Steak & Lube® to call home," explains Marla Pieton, Vice President of Marketing for The Lube®.

"By using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and TheLube.com we are going to listen to the resounding cry from Lube Nation saying: I want my Quaker Steak & Lube®!"
